3 goals in about 4 minutes.... 2 red cards in 1 minute.

Not a bad game. Banyule are pretty bad though. :(

Rowville lost 1-2 to Southern Suburbs Pythagoras Soccer Club (im serious, thats their name - also any doubt to their nationalistic leaning has now been settled!!)

Good game - Rowvilles goal a pearler of a free kick - even had some SS fans clapping

Rowville belied their lowly status and match SS pretty well, although SS did have strikers to finish things off

Good game - apart form not understanding a single word the crowd spoke and dodging the pumpkin seed husks

Thomastown seniors won 2-0 against Maribyrnong Greens

and we (Thomastoen ressies) won 7-1 against Maribyrnong Greens ressies

in the ressies the only goal that Maribyrnong Greens scored was amazing the guy hit it form like 40 yards out into the top corner from a free kick keeper had no chance.

Dovey smashed bottom placed Carrum 5-0 - It was 3-0 at 1/2 time and 2 late goals took it to 5, with Bristow scoring a hattrick - Good crowd for the rain and all but noticeable were
A. a whole heap of Dandenong Thunder supporters?
B. BlueDragon????

Also Rowvile scored an all important 1-0 away win to life them out of relegation

i played in 3 inches of water yesterday, that is soft!

anyway, i caught the last 10 minutes of Berwick City v Frankston Strikers, in 10 minutes i saw 3 goals, a dodgy penalty, Frankston were playing with 9 men.

Geelong Rangers v Albion Rovers - the final score was 3-3, a very exciting game in such difficult conditions. I sympathise with the goalies as the ball was skidding around everywhere making it difficult to keep.

News Update

Despite being away all Sat arvo watching the game, AND taking the Vision Of Loveliness out on the town, the Gaffer's Palace remained intact and nothing was stolen

Rowville 1 - Doveton 3

In a game of the truely bizarre, which made watching local level football the most enjoyable and then the most disgusting thing to waste your time on, Doveton overcame a tenacious and gallant, Rowville

Barely after kickoff, 4 mins in Dovey cross in from the left the ball deflects and maybe hits a defenders hand - penalty (prob was but the 70yo Chelsea Pensioner couldnt see it) guessed based on the noise of the away fans appeals - Bang 1-0

20 minutes more of good quality football from both sides, using width, passing and good tackling throughout and then a Dovey cross from the right this time, keeper dives, misses and an own goal of the kness of the defender (same lad who gave away the penalty!!!!) 2-0 Dovey

Time for more Scotch and a Mici on a bread roll, goal scramble at the far end and 2-1 Rowville

Halftime

A few changes made by both coaches

Ok the best way to describe 2nd half is Rowville TOTALLY dominated the half with out scoring - 2 crossbars hit, a few shots wide or lacking power. As time gets on and nears the end the Rowville keeper starts playing midfield!!! so eventually a ball rebounds out of midfield, a Dovey lad sprints for it and shoots from midway in the half and the ball rolls into an open net: 3-1

Final score 3-1, most enjoyable game, Rowville unlucky, but the difference being taking your chances eh!

So now for the fucked up part:
2 folks (staff?? not players) on the Rowville bench were evcited by the ref
1 is the short fat fucker that gets expelled every 4 weeks or so
2 was some sprog kid, who spits at the ref as soon as his back is turned

Diving was of Italian World Cup quality - One Rowville player did a 3.5 roll, with pained expression and audible screams - 1 minute later is taking the free kick

Even tho the game was played in good spirits to most (ive seen a game at this level near on every week this season) the Rowville players still had to abuse the ref (2 yellows and then a Red for second yellow) and start 2 push and shoves with Dovey - ah well

All during the game, fucking Gypo music blasting out the speakers ( now this isnt a BJS, or OP speakers set up - this is some twats rock boz, with the speakers on either side of the canteen. Flat out fecking Gypo music, well it goes with the sunflower seeds I guess

Then the coup de grace - as the players were walking off the Rowville coach (only been there 3 or 4 weeks) is accosted by some Rowville "fan" with a stubby in his hand, arguement ensures and push and shove - all this still on the pitch and about 10 feet from the refs who havent even left the ground yet

Summary
Dovey were poor, but scored - well below their usual standard (why was the club captain not in the starting 11 - he came on at 1/2 time and was a very angry man)
Rowville were the better side thruout (esp 2nd half), and the score is nowhere near a reflection of the game

Rowville Eagles SC just make me shake my head. Some the players try hard, work hard and are committed to their team and team mates. Just the club around these players is absolutely fucked. Staffed by fuckwits, let down by supporters as well. The only good thing they have going for them is the lass in the canteen who works her arse off, without any help form anyone else

I would no sooner take my kids to this club, than i would start following Man Utd

Meadow Park Seniors won in a cracker against Youth United 4-3 down at Gladstone Park Reserve. Went 1-0 up then got pinned back to 1-1 then went 2-1 and 3-1 up. 3-1 at half-time, Youth Utd scored to make it 3-2 before Parkers scored again 4-2.
Youth Utd made it a nailbiter in the last five minutes after pinning it back to 4-3 and pressuring until the final whistle. There was one bloke that had an absolute ripper for Meadow Park...Macca? I think that was his name scored a hat-trick and a couple of the goals were absolute rippers.

I used to play for them in the 80's (yes the 80's before half you were born) and it was pure Anglo - They had an Everton supporter that played with us, had a full back-job tattoo of the FA Cup and the result and players names in position (Thats gotta have hurt)

BTW - Watsonia > Diamond Valley.

Hmm, last time I checked State 2>>>>Prov 3.

We dont sell out. Watsonia - Always was, always will be Anglo.

No guesses as to why they are in the bottom amatuer division with that attitude.

DV - was anglo, now turkish

I don't see how having a few turkish players in a side makes a club Turkish.

Otherwise we would be known as that Bosnian/Greek/Italian/Dutch/Sweedish/Norwegian/Botswanan/English/Columbian/Malaysian team with a Scottish coach :D

:) Used to love playing at Gabonia Reserve mate. Must have felt like an indoor pitch for you La Trobe boys.

It just made it a little harder to dodge the half empty stubbies being thrown onto the ground :D

Tunna- big game for you this week against Hume. You guys havent played them this season. Should be a fantastic game. With your pace up front (not yours :) )I think you guys might get a result. If your playing in defence this week I suggest you man mark Nick Redecki, tall striker.

Certainly is mate. Ive come down with a massive bout of flu so dont know if ill come up.

Ive marked Nick before. Very smart player.

I meant as a club mate. Valley has had it. Give it a few years and watch em fall. They'll be in provvy leagues soon enough. No more juniors, President of a while left end of last season i believe.

No guesses as to why they are in the bottom amatuer division with that attitude.

LOL. You dont no me - so why presume im anglo? lol. More of a pisstake at Valley, as they hate being called a Turkish coach (yet hire a turkish coach who brings with him 10 turks  )

Was taking the piss mate :)

BTW - Uni sides are generally mixed.

Most bizarre thing i have ever witnessed on a Football field today...

Hume score what they thought was a winner about 3 minutes from full time. Ball headed towards our keeper who parries into the path of a Hume striker who then once again heads the ball over the keeper from the six yard box to another Hume player standing on the goal line. Instead of letting it go in, he decides to flick it into goal himself and the lineman lifts his flag for offside. Ref pays the offside but decides to head over to his assistant anyway for a chat. After around a minute, he awards a goal. We went absolutely mental and rightly so! After an eventful protest, the ref runs over again to his lineman, calls over the captains, has a five minute discussion before reversing the decision to the one he initially made and pays the offside. Then it was the turn for the folk from Hume to go mental...

There was a lot riding on this game so you can imagine the chaos which ensued.

I must say that the ref was pretty good throughout the match, but he got this one terribly wrong.

Other than that, it was a game played at a frantic pace. Avondale opened the scoring through Marin Jancic half way through the second half, before Hume replied ten minutes later. Both teams missed some clear cut opportunities in front of goal which they should have capitalised on.

It makes for a very interesting catch up game on 29/8.

Tunna - Why is there a need for a catch up game??

Was the match abandoned after the "offside" call?

Yesterday was the first time we've played Hume this season.
The Round 8 fixture vs Hume didnt go ahead, game was cancelled due to the bad condition of our ground that day. The game will now take place at FFV HQ Tuesday week.

in my game on the weekend (meadow park reserves) we played against the top team, they are on top by a country mile (Melton). we were 1-0 up, down to 10 men for half the first half n all of second half, with 3 mins left we copped 2 goals and lost 2-1, could not believe it. was good match though, i quite enjoyed playing at night even tho i got home around 10. for the senior game me and miguel thought it would be fun to rip a few flares there, apparently the reaction from the crowed was good

Trelos..any chance you'll be ripping a few more flares at Gladdy? Or do you reckon its a waste in daylight?
