Really is like a cup final Tuesday night.

-Trelos: Naa I wasn't at Melton. I was gonna go coz it was a night amtch but I got sick during the day and fell asleep at like 6.

Yeh I thought I played alright on Saturday but could've done better. It wasn't the best game I've evr played. I also had a great chance to score but I just couldn't reach the ball properly and it went centimetres over the bar

As you can see, I'm a very attack-minded player as I was reluctant to get back and defend :o

I also got doused with water in the changerooms after the game and went home soaked :p

A win or a draw will see us promoted to State 3 mate. Big big week for the club. There was a huge buzz around training on Tuesday night.
Facilities are great, new pavillion is only 10 months old. Its the pitch which is the problem. Council will work heavily on it during the off season.

Monbulk relegated to prov 1 after a tough year. Frustrating thing is we beat the fourth placed team, sandringham 4-0 yesterday with a bery young team, 4 players under 18, and a 13 year old scoring a goal.

A good base for the future.

North Caulfield Maccabi secures history-making promotion

harvey silver

NORTH Caulfield Maccabi has secured its third promotion in five seasons after defeating Mooroolbark on Sunday.

The latest promotion means the team, which finished second for the season, will play in the second division of the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV) next year, just two levels below the national A-League.

Although Maccabi cruised to the 2-0 win, the side turned on a spirited performance in front of a supportive home crowd.

After the win, coach Jim Maclean said he had never felt a greater sense of achievement.

“People doubted this group, knocked us from the very start of the season but for this group of players to keep working, keep believing in themselves and to get themselves promoted to division two ... well I have never felt prouder of anything I have managed in football.”

A veteran of the club, Maclean has overseen all three promotions, taking the club from the second division of the Provisional League in 2002 to Division Two of the FFV, which includes power clubs such as South Melbourne and the Melbourne Knights.

Play was fast and passing crisp in a match that was a good preview of the standard Maccabi can expect next season.

Goal scoring chances were rare and it looked like the match would be scoreless at the break until a late corner from Ryan Abrahams was neatly deflected by Dion Esterman through the goalkeeper’s legs.

In the second half the ball rarely left Mooroolbark’s half. After three missed chances from long range by substitute Adam Rischin, Oran Harel ran on to a lovely through pass and was brought down by the Mooroolbark keeper. The keeper’s challenge earned him a yellow card, but Harel responded coolly by finding the back of the net to seal the game.

The match capped off an impressive run to the end of the season for Maccabi, which, except for a 1-0 loss to reigning champions Heatherton United, conceded no points in the last five weeks.

I played these guys this year.

Pisses me off the amount of leverage thay get with the FFV. Not only do they get to play there home matches on a sunday instead of saturday like everyone else but they force other clubs to play their home games on sundays. Fair enough their religion forces them to do that. Other state 3 teams weren't allowed to change the day they played on.

But they also officially call themselves Maccabi, why dont we go back and call South - Hellas, Knights - Croatia and all the other numerous teams that have had to change there names. Double standards result in acrimony.

I agree. Fair enough they choose to play home games on Sunday, if FFV grant permission any club can choose when they want to play. BUT, to force home sides to play on a different day to accomodate is crap.

Yeh i agree its a bit much to force other home sides to change their matchday fixture. From what i've heard some of their best players are religouse so they would be at a huge disadvantage if it was to be played on a staurday.

Also didn't Macabbi change their name to North Caulfield, because on the fixture and League table it says North Caulfield.

Then why do they call themselves Maccabi in that article, it says maccabi on their badge (I think) and they chant Maccabi during games, players and supporters.

It was funny how in the second last round the majority of the players were able to attend a match involving two opposition teams on a saturday.

Take a look at the ladder:
http://football2.resultsvault.com/common/pages/public/rv/ladder.aspx?entityid=7250&gradeid=1_1&save=0

It says North Caulfield SC

Secondly i said some of their best players are religouse, not all.

The club is not responsible for what the supporters chant unless it is racist.

ALso the article was written by Harvey Silver, one of the hosts of the Victory Hour on SEN, who wrote it for the Australian Jewish News, which still refers to it as Maccabi. However officially, Maccabi changed their name to North Caulfield SC.

I wouldn't mind a shot at the ressies for a State 2 team in the South East region, Clayton would have been a real option but the've been relegated. Waverley Wanderers are decent, but the're all greek muzza cunts like the Arminian's at Brandon Park.

There's kind of like this organised football thing that happens at the park near my place every Sunday for the last 3-4 years I reckon. The level is fairly decent, each week all these immagrants from off the boat rock up and play, I have no idea where they come from. Plus it's always rather competitive, goes for like 3-4 hours. The goals look proper but the're about 1/3rd of the size and the ground can be almost as long as a full pitch. But it still doesn't beat the real thing.

This thread really should be stickyed though.

I wouldn't mind a shot at the ressies for a State 2 team in the South East region, Clayton would have been a real option but the've been relegated. Waverley Wanderers are decent, but the're all greek muzza cunts like the Arminian's at Brandon Park

Templestowe due to the FFV fruck up in the VPL are now in State League 2... check out their website at www.templestoweeagles.com if youre interested in goign for a kick..

It's a bit far for me to travel; I do live in Mulgrave you know. I'll try my luck at Waverley Wanderers AEK, I've always liked their top notch pitch.

2 options Simon - you chose :D

2. Cos there is no A-League football, and the off season should be about your local team (being a Manure fans, ask someone to explain the concept to you). Hence Rowville (my suburb) and Doveton (Gar' suburb) are in the same division now so we might go and watch a few of those games. Also Knox city and ex VPL team are now Sate :League so ti get there fixtures we know where they are

you go watch/play at Rowville? Are you Romanian? Pretty....umm...tight knit club...not many (not to sound racist here) outsiders there

Rowville United is Romanian, but Rowville is also one of the largest suburbs in Melbourne....

Went to see them the last 2 seasons and 1 or 2 good footballers fucked up by their staff - especially some short very fat cnut as an asst manager - bloke pissed off the crowd, payers and refs at nearly every game

Sorry to see them get relegated but hopefully they will bounce back

And to anyone from the club reading this - stop the farking Romanian shyte music blaring out and accept other cultures - either that or see what happens in the future when you club disappears

For all Rowville folk we have an amateur side Knox United

Kindly posted by your local committeeman

Most games i go to watch end in fights... I tend to steer clear of them.

There was a game last year where we were sitting on the inside of the fence at Progress Reserve... We got kicked out and the police were called after a group of about 10 got closer and closer to the assistant ref...

The ref stop the game and told us Broadmeadows would forfeit if we didn't get on the other side of the fense.

Fun times :)

Did they at least play Dragostea Din Tei?

Or the Eurovision entrant by the woman with the sizeable rack?
