Monbulk played an away match at home today due to Monash Uni not having a pitch to play on.

Another solid effort with both Monbulk teams winning.

With the firsts in 2nd place it is looking like we will be going straight back up to State 3!!

Rancid Liam - Were you at Rayner yesterday with a group of about 3 or 4 and (who i presume) is your old man standing on the far side goal towards the play ground?

Trained like a dog tonight

We did this running drill for the majority of training whereby you would count upto 10.... (then we did it back again 10,9,8) running lengths of the pitch.

So 1 length, then 2, then 3, then 4 and that went all the way upto 10 ending up in 55 laps per set.

We did that twice to the length of approximately 65 meters, so 110 laps x 65 = 7150m

Then we halved the size and done another 10; taking the total upto 10725m

Also going at roughly 10 seconds per lap; 18.5 minutes per set.

We followed this up with doggies and a little game at the end. Easily 11.5km for the night.

Your coach (or fitness coach) should be shot for stupidity. That serves no purpose whatsoever. Running for the point of running  You dont get fit with one hard night of running. Besides, lol, 5 weeks in you should be fit FFS!

5 months of training; should be fit.... but trust me alot of guys are not. I personally am, could run out the game in ease. But as it is I'm getting zero gametime at the moment because I am viewed as too much of a 'liability' for State 2. My position is also filled by one of the seniors who drops down to get gametime and he keeps putting in decent performances so it's not looking good to be honest..

The way I look at it is... how hard can it be to play in a team that gets demolished and shows no heart ?

We lost 8-2 on Friday after being 2-2 at half time, he declared 'punishment' on that night.

I'm interested in this aswell, seems confusing.

I'm moving back to Melbourne at the end of the year and will need a team for next season, I currently play in the AA1 league in the Manly-Warringah section, Sydney, not sure how that relates to Melbourne comps and where my level would be.

I think NSW comps go
A-League
State League
Regional Leagues (Prems, AA1, AA2, AA3,......)

I consider our league to be decent, but no players get paid or anything like that, although some of the prems teams in our region pay wages.

Seb

In Melbourne it is:

VPL (Foxtel Cup)
State 1
State 2 SE and State 2 NW
State 3 SE and State 3 NW
Provisional 1 SE and Provisional 1 NW
Provisional 2 SE and Provisional 2 NW
Provisional 3 SE and Provisional 3 SE
Metropolitan League (Introduced this year)

Then you have amateur leagues not run by the FFV like Bayside, Church and Gippsland.

Would have no idea, I live south east of Melbourne. But we have played teams from Warragul and Morwell which are country towns out this way and they hold their own in State 3/Prov 1.

As it happens the Ballarat team and 3 Geelong sides Rangers, United and Corio are all playing State 2 NW

Geelong "could" pool its resources and get a VPL team I would have thought. Ballarat I doubt and I havent seen football in Bendigo or Gippsland to comment there

Lizzy

Most of the Bendigo sides play in the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League in Central Vic. (Golden City SC, Colts United, Eaglehawk SC etc). Pretty ordinary standard. Provisional 1 level perhaps?

Had enough and I was quickly losing that passion to play. Unfortunate cos I left a couple of best mates behind and the best coach Ive ever had.

Moved to a club a mate is coaching. Trained there last night. Good vibe, fabulous atmosphere around the place and some great blokes (a fair few from my ex club Brimbank where I spent 10 years). Another huge motivation is that ive never won a championship and my new club has a real chance this season.

No the difference between State 3 and Prov 1 is negligible.

The Metro league was established as a stepping stone for amateur clubs wanting to enter the Provisional League.

LS 11
June 6th, 2007, 10:26 AM
Was talking about Clayton last night

1. They still have a good juniors set up

2. Seniors folded last season - State 2 or 3

3. Reason, as told to me by an ex-player (played last year with them) was politics - used to be and Italian club, then seemed to be headed in a Grrek direction (no jokes please) and everyone fell out

Someone with more knowledge, will hopefully either correct me or post more. We have a lot of their ressies at our club now

My details are sketchy but I heard that a can was thrown by a spectator at the goalkeeper (not sure from which team). A scuffle broke out and the ref called the game off.

I presume the result will stand as the game was suspended after the 70 min mark.

Apparently Moreland were pressing and creating alot of chances n the ball went behind the goals n some dickhead grabbed the balla nd didnt pass it to Yani. Yani then pushed him and the bloke threw a can at Yani n the scuffle started. Hopefully we get that point because its that close on State League 1....

I just realised we play Noble Park next week, hopefully it was one of the Durand boys who punched the Ref cos it will make the job that much easier for us without them.

Nah its true. Was NOT one of the Durands.

Was sitting on the bench when it happened.:sad1: There was security there. The cops turned up 10 minutes after it happened.

Ha ha. Used to play against Lyndale. Goalkeeper knocked me out while I was going for a cross, all because I threatened to stamp on a defender's head after he fouled me.

How is it that your ressies are dominating and your 1sts are languishing?

Well... Lyndale won provvy 2 last year, and obviously we've been promoted to provvy 1. The coach has about 4 or 5 new players who are good enough to make the seniors but they keep insisting on playing the same squad that won the league last year, so the new players who have joined are stuck in the reserves. Take a look at the top reserves goalscorers. We have a striker in the reserves who's scored 8 goals in 4 games in the ressies and was playing state league 2 last year, but isn't getting any games in seniors, and 2 brothers who played at Clayton in State 2 but stuck in reserves as well. It's crazy/frustrating how they keep sticking to the same losing team.

Like us our seniors havent lost a match and ressies have hardly won

I thought Lyndale played well against Brandon Park for the draw.

Why does Brandon Park's ground seem soooo much bigger than everyone elses?

When you played Monbulk that Asian kid ripped it up in the ressies, and then you put a fat and ageing oaf up forward for the Ones and he struggle. I think you need a shake up.

We should rename this thread to Provvy 1 S/E Discussion ;)

Lol at Lyndale being the only team to list scorers for their ressies.

That asian kid is the one that can't get a game in the seniors, moved from knox.. He's our ressies top scorer. Monbulk ran all over us, 6-0 i think, should have been more. MUCH MUCH better than Monash and White Star who both aren't much at all. Brandon Park have got it in the bag i think. Impossible to catch them. Hope Monash or White star don't go up with them as they don't deserve to...

Lyndale VS Old Melburnians. OM leading 2-0 after 20 minutes, Lyndale scored 3 to go up at half time 3-2. Scored another quick 2 to lead 5-2. 17 minutes to go, 5-2 up, OM score 2 in quick succession with a extra time penalty to level 5-5. You can imagine the crowd as the referee was escorted off, but can't blame the ref, we let it slip. Story of our season...

If you already have a user name check the Aus Soccer Forum.

They shut down registrations because someone made a passing comment that someone should bomb the FFV. Naturally everyone made a huge overreaction and they searched the FFV headquarters and registrations have never been re-opened.
