Neill to spurs??

Blackburn are also facing a battle to keep Aussie full-back Lucas Neill. Spurs boss Martin Jol is hoping to lure him this week.

The White Hart Lane chief is reeling from the fact star centre-back Ledley King will miss the start of the season with a knee injury, but the Dutchman is set to ease his pain with some retail therapy.

Spurs feel they need someone of Neill's experience to help them through a gruelling season.

They have a UEFA Cup campaign to think about, and with right-back Paul Stalteri injured, Jol wants cover in all areas.

The Neill rumour is old news, would like Neill as it would do wonders for Spurs Australia and it would be great to have another great CB to help Dawson and King but realistically if Neill was being brought in as a CB he would be 3rd in line after King and Dawson, and i think he maybe a little slow than we need for a RB. Would be great to have though but he would definately play more games for Blackburn.

I think we will only go for Neill if we think he is a better option that Chimbonda.

Well pretty much yes, and its not about being in the ECL as much as it is being in there regularily. You may dispute it, but mostly the elite players play at clubs that will give them champions league every season. I'd like to see Neill play for that type of club, in the major comps, and becoming an elite backman.

Im a Rovers fan and i'd be absolutley shattered if Neil was to leave (especailly if he was to go to Spurs!). I'd be more devasted if he was to leave than Emo (as thats what im hearing now as well), simply because he is one of my all time favourite players, and with Blackburn looking to impress in Europe this season its players such as Lucas Neil and their never say never attitude that Blackburn will need.

To me, Blackburn have 2 players to thank big time for their season last season and they are Bellamy and Neill, one has already gone to the Car theives, i would have no worries about buying the other but you would think that Blackburn would do everything to keep him. I think you will find that although we have been sniffing around not much has happened.

LUFC- Neill is already an elite backman. You dont have to be playing in the CL to be one.

I think you will find that although we have been sniffing around not much has happened. I would probably say that Ryan Nelson is even more important than both of these players as Neil's form only improved after the Uruguay game, and Bellamy spent a far bit of the season injured.

As for Ryan Nelson to Spurs, the word was that Arsenal were looking at him a while back but nothing since.
