Liverpool keen to offload Kewell
tribalfooball.com - August 01, 2006

Liverpool are inviting offers for Aussie winger Harry Kewell.
The Times says Reds boss Rafa Benitez is keen to move for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing and will do so if he can find a buyer for Kewell.

The Australian's current £70,000-a-week wages is proving a stumbling block for interested clubs.

Middlesbrough turned down two previous offers for Downing, who is also wanted by Liverpool if they can sell Harry Kewell. But Kewell’s £70,000-a-week wages are proving problematic.

Kewell has had a 10 plus years career. How many years has Downing played for?

you have to look at this in context for boro. they could feasibly do a birmingham this season and crash to relegation despite a strong on-paper team. downing out, kewell + money in would be a looney transfer.

kewell to pompey, if he can get over these injuries who ever gets him will have a great player who would be pumped to get back to regular playing
