A-League transfer laws hit NZ Knights Cup campaign tribalfooball.com - August 03, 2006

The 'unique' transfer laws of the A-League have come to a head for New Zealand Knights boss Paul Nevin.

Injury, impending fatherhood and international duty have left the unbeaten Knights without a fully fit available goalkeeper for the trip to Adelaide United. Mike Turnbull is carrying a groin injury, Danny Milosevic won't travel to Australia as he is awaiting the birth of his first child and new signing Mark Paston is with the All Whites.

Nevin has managed to sign Blacktown City goalkeeper Ivan Meseski for the one-off assignment.

Nevin considered offering a short-term contract to a New Zealand goalkeeper but that may compromise the player's ability to turn out in the New Zealand domestic competition.

"Even a short-term contract of one week would potentially rule them out because of the rules and their interpretation," Nevin told NZPA.

Haha its only a preseason match. They'll have three fully fit, very decent keepers during the season.
