Did anyone see it???
To give you a rundown in one sentence: Its EXACTLY the same ad as last year (some blokes running around kicking balls in paint and shit), except they changed the music track and put a little subtitle at the end saying "A-League Version 2, Coming: 25.08.06".
Pretty disappointing.

I seem to recall TI telling us they wouldn't be making another ad in a hurry

The game is mainstream now innit. It's made their job of promoting the game 'a whole lot easier'. Ask Matt Carroll.

Yep just what the melbourne faithful want to see, Michael Ferrante covered in paint. As he is one of our superstar players the kids can all look up to. Even if he is warming the pine for most of the season.

Didnt they blow their ad budget last year on that ad? I guess they want to get a bit more value for money.

yeah im sure the 20 million they got from the world cup + sponsorships is being spent wisely as we speak.

By the time the players took their cut and FFA paid off some old debts I doubt there would be much of that money left.

The FFA said ages ago it would be the same ad with different music. It cost a fortune to make, probably cost as much to run. Let's just get on with it. It's a good ad and it it's no different to a million other ads that have been used year after year.

air time is very expensive
plenty of companies use the same ad a couple of years running

It costs a lot more to run it than to make it.

As someone in this forum said some time ago. there are folk that come on here a would complain about getting laid by Angelina Jolie on the bonnet of the Ferrari they just bought after winning $400Million on Tatts :D
Anyway, didn't the NRL 'simply the best' ad run for a few years?

I'm not fussed probably better more important to get more quality air time than make a totally new ad. Save money on film which gives more time of airing whihc is very important and hopefully still have money left over too. :)

we need an Add that clearly promotes the A-league as the national football competition- that Add could be easily misunderstood as a sports brand commerical. I understand last year they didnt have a product to advertise but now they have.

It'd be nice to include a bit of highlights in the ad
Ads are less expensive to film if you dont have to film anything
Marteh

adding on to what bazza said, the most important part of the whole freaking add is the last part which says "VERSION:2 - 25:8:05" and with a voice saying HYUNDAI A-LEAGUE, but that only lasts for 2 seconds, hardly any time for a person to take in all the things on the last shot.
The logo, the version:2 in big letters, the date and "Its football but not as you know it"
They should put the a-league website up there and atleast leave it on for 5 seconds not 1.8 seconds.

Err Mick. If you want to get Ridley Scott's production company to chuck out a brand new $3 million campaign every twelve months, well, I'm glad you're not running the A-League mate.
The current campaign has received praise from advertising industry sources such as B&T and has obviously achieved (or exceeded) it's objective. It is rare for companies to swap advertising campaigns after such a short time and I can see no reason why the A-League should be any different.

Well I am...the jews run everything mate ;) I'm going to have to kick some heads in at the next FFA meeeting. Matt Carrol is number 1 on the list, farken anti-semite!

Oooooh B&T, must be top shit then!
Seriously, a higlights pack from last year with great goals, nice skills and having a few of the big names highlighted (David Zdrilic comes to mind) with a catchy tune wouldnt have cost millions to make and would have been better than putting out something that is clearly cheap and absolute rubbish as well. No one gives a fark about a bunch of pretty boy faggots kicking balls in paint all over themselves. Wait a minute...know I know why it was so popular in Sydney :D

Hehehe good call Magpie
Highlights package with the likes of Yorke, Zdrillic, Thompson, Qu, Depososisksksi would have been good

Zdrillic? Jonk... are you fucked in the part of the head where you think?
He's the only one in your list which wasnt a high scorer, and who's only goal was scored off a deflection on the goal-line. He's lucky he had that goal cause otherwise he wouldnt be considered for a spot ever.

I guess the FFA wanted to put out a song which hasnt been heard before so that when people get that song stuck in their head, they revert it back to the A-League add.
I thought it was shite the first time I saw it, I have seen/heard it 4 times now, its building on me.

A compilation ad (cheapy) like this vid could be a good back up to the old A-League Ad which is more of a teaser trailer than real promo of the skills. Of course it would need to be slicker.
