Should be a good chance for him to show what he can do in a regular first team run, even if it is dropping down a division.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has ended his determined chase to sign a new goalkeeper by clinching a three-month loan deal for Middlesbrough's Brad Jones.

The highly-rated Australian goes straight into the squad for The Owls' opening Championship tie against Preston North End on Saturday, and moves to Hillsborough in search of regular first team football.

Sturrock has been battling hard to reinforce his options between the sticks with just Chris Adamson previously available, and missed out on Liverpool youngster Scott Carson after he penned a new deal at Anfield.

However he has now landed a Premiership keeper ahead of the new season with Boro confirming Jones will be farmed out to the Yorkshire side.

Hopefully he starts most games gets a bit of experience, three months is that long of a loan though.
