?
Saw him against Sunshine George Cross and although he scored he looked like the side of a bus.
The boy's carrying a bit. I read somewhere that he aspires to get back in the A-league. I'm sure initially he vowed to prove Ernie wrong and bang them in the VPL buit it looks like hes been consoling himself with donuts,

Diaco has talent and ability, but for some reason he lacked the final touch for MV last season. Although as usual I like to blame Merrick :D
I think he made a good super sub, he always made some impact off the bench, but I don't think he is a good starter...

oozes talent and class. He was thinner early this season before he was injured.

Had the natural talent, needed to get his diet/body right, needed two-three years of top-level football and maybe could have made it, he is finished....

Sure he can play, just not at the level required for the A-League. And for anyone to suggest atherwise is kidding themselves. Don't see other teams in the A-League knocking on his door.

How about Carl Recchia? I only got into Victory during the last bit of the season so I didn't get to see much of him. Why was he realeased? Wasn't he up to Victory standards?

Diaco is 'Pearls before swine' in the A-League. Of course Scottish and British coaches aren't going to go for a technically gifted, casual, lazy player. Some memories of 'Tricky Ricky' in a victory shirt. An assist, goal and skill.
Having creative players like Diaco inspire the type of movement that causes the muscat goal, look how he drops into the 'Number 10' position looking for the pass when every other boring A-League player is looking for a shitty, hopeful floated cross.

Other clubs would look at 3rd rate overseas players before taking a 2nd glance at Ricky.

Then again, i should listen to you based on your insightful reputation.

Your username says it all. Anyone who rates Kevin Kyle would love allsopp and resent Diaco. Kyle and Allsopp make everything difficult, have no technique and play in competitions which allow and encourage their lack of subtlety and ability because of rugby like reffing and philosophy. They rely on their physique rather than technique, are a bad example to young footballers and are for the most part a prime example of Why england and australia produce a lower standard of technical player than any country in europe or South America.
Diaco however makes things look easy, relys on technique and plays purely from talent. The problem facing Diaco is not a lack of ability, of which he has plenty, it's the A-League's total lack of respect for technique, the frenetic tempo caused by a lack of technical players and the ridiculous ammount of physicaltiy allowed by the refs.

For the record, I do not "rate" Kevin Kyle at all. I think he is a poor example of a target man who is unsuitable for all leagues including England. That is why he scored one goal last year and the last championship season he played he scored like 10 goals in 40+ appearances. So lets not get that confused.
As for Allsopp and Diaco, the fact is we are talking about the A-League and for all of those reasons mentioned by you, Diaco will never be as effective as Allsopp in Australia. Diaco may be a better footballer technically, as can be seen as he is an ex Australian indoor representative (this is correct?), but will not ever make him better in the A-League because he is not good enough physically to succeed. You cannot fault Allsopp's work rate and it may bring him success this year, as recent performances suggest is possible. Allsopp is clearly a better "Australian'' style of player which basically means Diaco is ratrooted for furthering his career because their are better technical players elsewhere anyway.

He never really had much to his game to be honest, as evident by a grand total of one start.
I don't think he'll ever make it back.

Carl was injured. maybe it was going to effect his future with Victory... Diaco and Recchia were my fave players last year.

I agree that this is an interesting perspective. Australian football has tended to be 'physical' and fast. It seems the Brazilian recruitment campaign is part of an attempt to introduce more skill into the local game, and one of the key questions for us is going to be whether they can get away with playing Brazilian style in Australia, or will they be battered about too much by the speed and roughness of the game.
I'm sure we'd all love to see more strategic and skillful play become normal in the A-League.
If Diaco indeed has some of those qualities, then I suppose his initial recruitment was an attempt to have some of those skills in the squad, and it was also the reason why he had to go to make way for the Brazilian experiment.
