The NZ Knights have completed their 20-strong A-League squad with the signing of English central defender Matt Carbon.

"He is another in our squad to have experienced life in the English Premiership and provides great balance as a naturally left sided player," Knights manager Paul Nevin said of the 31-year-old.

Carbon most recently played for Barnsley which won promotion to the Championship league (2nd division) with a win over Swansea in the play off match.

He has played at Lincoln City, Derby County (Premiership), West Bromwich Albion (Premiership) and Walsall where he played alongside current Knights skipper Darren Bazeley.

"I know a number of players already in the A-League, some of them here at the Knights and know just how tough a competition it is already proving to be," Carbon said.

Knights squad:

Goalkeepers - Danny Milosevic, Michael Turnbull, Mark Paston.

Defenders - Gregory Duruz, Che Bunce, Frank van Eijs, Sime Kovacevic, Matt Carbon, Darren Bazeley.

Midfielders - Neil Emblen, Richard Johnson, Scot Gemmill, Jonas Salley, Malik Buari, Jonti Richter, Michael White.

Forwards - Dani Rodrigues, Sean Devine, Adam Casey, Noah Hickey.

They needed another good striker and a left midfielder, but instead just have 3 goalkeepers

They will be competitive at least this season, but them and Perth Glory are still destined for bottom 2

Sounds like a decent signing.

Why the hell did they sign 3 goalkeepers??

Surely they need another striker. I wasn't impressed by Devine last season.

They've got Casey, Rodriguez, White, Hickey and Malik (I think thats his name) who can all play up front. I think they've got a well balanced team. They have three keepers because Dan Milosevic said He'd leave if he was knocked out of his number one spot, which looks likely because of the form of Mike Turnbull. Expect Milo to leave during January, and Paston (who is a good keeper) to play second fiddle.

Rodriguez is sposed to be a pretty good player right. I wouldn't be surprised if if he is up the top of the scoreres chart or if new zealand make the finals this year.
