We play Perth away at 3:00pm that day so I might watch the womens match and then head to the Dickens.

Sorry didn't take into account the time difference, so I think it would be a 5:00pm kickoff in Melbourne time. I might stay to watch both matches and then head to dickens.

I play for Box Hill, and you'd probably be suprised about the quality and skill of the girls.

although i agree a bit there, Box Hill girls arnt girls, when they played against Preston the Box Hill "girls" physically scarred a number of players, and few brawls between themselves...........cat fight

considering the matches are governed by the state federation, the Football Federation Victoria, i thought it would have been logical to visit their website, you would be surprised what info they have

Umm, I played a half of that game and was on the field when the "fight" happened, from what I remember one of your girls pulled a girls hair and started pushing her around before some of ours intervened. There was no brawls between our girls at all, I don't know where you pulled that from.
Didn't Preston get promoted this year?
Tunna, how do you know Didge? she's great player/coach.

not sure how you missed it
--------------------------------------------------
Ella im going by what others have said, although i admit brawls was the wrong word to use and i apologise. from what i was told Box Hill girls played dirty all match, then push and shove etc. one Preston girls went to doctors as her lip or something was cut and needed some medical attention
Preston Lions WFC were in WPL in 2004 for the first time, but relegated in same year after poor year, they finished second on ladder and just missed by a few points for the championship, and then in 2006 came up to WPL. good to see they survived, hopefully they strengthen the squad for next year
a Preston player played for Box Hill in 2004 after a player exodus, but now is back at Preston

I use safari on Mas os x
wheneever I try to use one of the menus from the top band, it comes up in between the top level of text and the images and I can't access them
I figured out why I missed it
only the top half of the site was coming up on screen in my browser, and I didn't realise there was so much else below
I could only see as far as the search spot
I did search around in the site a bit - did a search and stuff
then I decided it would be quicker to ask the people in here
who know everything
and I got an answer within 2 minutes

Dirty is probably an overstatement, they do play very hard, which may be more accurate, although hard in women's matches can sometimes be dirty. I've seen more cut lips, stud bruises and scratches than you could probably imagine.
4 Preston girls came to box hill after that match (Meri, Kirby, Ashley and another who's name I can't recall), Meri still plays with us, Ashley isn't playing this season and i'm not sure where the other two are at.
I haven't played the last 2 seasons through injury, probably explains forgetting who was promoted, but best of luck to you next season. I'm glad you stayed in the league personally. Playing Preston is always an experience to say the least.

Ashley is playing indoor at the moment. Played her last week- although i think she thought it was a rugby game, talk about rough, bruised ribs from elbows etc. Would hate to see her on the field- perhaps she should take a spot in the mens team.

I think Preston Womens team finished mid table- 4th or something....
Apparently they are looking for girls for their reserves team next season also.

ahaha, yeah she's big and knows how to use her body to say the least. Awesome player though, excellent at holding the ball up and don't get in her way when she's on goal.
She didn't play this season because its a huge commitement and a long way from her end to Box Hill.
Preston finished 9th last season, their reserves finished 11th.
Mechka, where do you play?

Preston did well to avoid relegation, they could have dropped on the final day but it was a longshot, Brimbank and South Melbourne got relegated, South needing a final day win over Eltham to relegate the Eastern Lions but went down 2-1 to Eltham but almost pulled off the great escape, will be difficult now to hold onto players for South as it always is when a team gets relegated, so if any of you know anybody looking to play div 1 next year send them down to South.

Why? the majority of them would be Victory fans! lol.
Had the honour of seeing one of the better womens brawls this yr between the south keeper and the heidleberg striker back at bob jane earlier in the year, it was on for young and old think both got sent off but cant remember, punches flying all over the place, heidelberg keeper charged from the other side of the ground to get into the thick of things, Heidelberg ran out convinving winners, as did most teams that went to bjs this particular season, was just nice to see that it isnt only the mens side of south and heidelberg that completely hate eachother.

Well it quite possibly would be happy days for the mens side, 1 less team using bjs next year lol, i doubt they will let a division 1 team use the main ground, but who knows.

Mechka what nato are you? (just curious :) ). you are correct the Preston Lions WFC are looking for all sorts of players, but from what ive heard they want young girls for a youth team, plus for reserves etc
Ella is Ashley you reffering to Ashley McMillan? the other player you might be reffering to is Mare (unless she uses Meri name) http://www.prestonlions.com/plfc/teams_womens_profiles_2006_ognenovski_mare.php
how long is your injury, you going to play next year? thanks for the remarks, goos luck to your mob next year as well. im not a big follower of Womens football, but if theres a Preston team, ill always want them to win :)
tell us about your comment "Playing Preston is always an experience to say the least", how? lol

Im Maltese myself, but my bf is Maco- a massive Preston supporter- he was born into it, played with them from juniors until about 19 i think (he left the year before they won the Premiership).
lol at posting a picture of Mare- if i see her this weekend im going to direct her to this thread. I think she did play at Box Hill for 1 season, but she is definately back at Preston now. I know a few of the girls that played there this year- one of them asked me to come down next season for a run in the Reserves- not sure if i want all the headaches that come with playing for Preston thou- always some sort of controversy going on.
The ashley im referring to is McMillan.

Honorary Macedonian apparently...

Yeah thats Mare, she did play one season with us.
Meri still plays for Box Hill, she's also Maso. It is Ashley Mcmillan I'm referring to, I *think* her dad may still be involved in Preston.
All going well I will play next season, can't wait to get back into it, i've been out for 2 years all together, for various reasons.
There is so much passion and pride at Preston that, as Menchka said, there can be a fair few dramas from what i've seen and heard. Not that its a bad thing, it adds another element to the competition and stops it from getting too boring.

Ashley and her sisters left when her dad left in 2004 for some reason, from what i heard the committee back then and George McMillan had issues between themselves or some sh!t
