Not bad during finals footy to get an average of around 15k at all 4 matches.

Yeah, although Adelaide have shown that they need to win just to stay above 10k. We need to ensure that Adelaide and Perth get good crowds, cause they're still important markets.

that is really good! a lot better than other weeks! AUFC is disappointing given they were minor premiers last year and well who are we kidding apart from the footy there is really nothing to do there! there must be a lot of bored people in adelaide just waiting for something to do!

Was it shitty weather? That seems to keep the casual supporters from attending.

reverse those games, and you would be lucky to get 20k together

Hes right, all the home games were at the big market teams, big crowds are highly likely when that occurs.

17.6k was a great crowd for us, and as we keep on winning that will only continue to rise as people jump on the victory.
15.5k = very disappointing for sydney. it just shows what bandwagoners they are up there.. you would expect them to be getting minimum 18k to every game being the reigning champions and most populated city in australia, but anyway... and i would imagine there would have been quite a few newcastle supporters that made the short trip down...
11.8k = not bad for united. was expecting a little more though.
15.5k = healthy for the roar. maybe the 'playing new zealand' factor slightly influenced the crowd. but i am confident (if they keep playing this kind of football) this will be there lowest crowd of the season..

Adelaide and melbourne are restricted by capacity but the other two could have been higher especially Sydney

A bit like having the planets aligning perfectly, , when these are all playing at home in the same week,
Melbourne
Sydney
Queensland
Adelaide
best crowd average to be expected.
Good thing they have Melbourne crowds to keep propping up the figures eh?

Yeah, I'd expect Sydney to be doing it better, especially since they were champs last year.

This weeks games will be interesting.
NZ-SyDNEY on thursday night- 4000 tops
Queensland vs Adelaide- Should get at least 20000 playing Adelaide n all
CC vs Newcastle- Can't see any more than 8-9000
Perth vs Melbourne- 10000 tops

So we might end up with 40,000 overall, all things going well. Perth are SUCH a disappointment... the club seems to be completely screwed. I thought they were meant to have a new owner by June or July?!! :(

You imagined wrong as I was at the game and counted the Squadron and there number was less than 50. The rest of your argument is right as the crowd was low considering the perfect weather with no other mainstream sport in town. It's a concern for Football that so many are only interested in following a winning team and not concerned (like myself) at watching A-League games regularly live.

15 500 is pretty good really. If that is going to be our base crowd then id be more than happy. The A-league is in great shape if we think 15 500 is a poor crowd isnt it?

If thats true then thats a fucken disgrace!!!
What is it? A 2 hour drive from newcastle to sydney?

Yes it is a disgrace but also an indication that Football in Newcastle is an incredibly miniscule sport. It is obvious SFC, MVFC, QRFC and AUFC all have a bright future but the future of the remaining 4 clubs in particular the NZKFC is a concern. Let's all hope the powers at be do not increase the A-League until the worse performer of the A-League is strong. A chain after all is only as strong as its weakest link.
Yes Newcastle is about 2-2.5 hours drive from Sydney.

Nobody realistically thinks on a thursday night the kiwis would crack 2500 would they? if it rains they will get about a thousand, i can see what the ffa was thinking though giving them 5 of the first 6 at home, perhaps trying to get them into some winning form, the last 2 weeks have been horrible.... their finished.
Its pretty simple Victory leads the way, queensland are going great, Sydney regardless will get their 15k but really they should be getting more, CCM and Newcastle are the main worry, they got some poor crowds last yr and thats when they were both in top 4, now that their bottom 2 it could get ugly, Perth dont seem to have anything more then 10,000 in them anymore and over in Adelaide their just a bunch of weirdos that team deserves 15k+ every 2nd week, fkn hell they use to get 17,000 in the nsl without fail and here they are struggling to get over 10,000.
3 teams look secure in terms of crowds, 4 are up and down or heading towards a bit of strife and 1 is dead. It could be worse at least the 3 main teams are doing well.

I was a stanch supporter of the view that the NZKFC should fold but the off season remarks by FFA convinced me otherwise. The potential market the Knights have is 4,000,000 and this dwarfs any region in Australia that could potentially replace them. However, the last few weeks are showing once again that if the Knights produce another season as they did last time around then they may well be killed off for season III (contract or no contract with the FFA for 5 years).

How the fark do the Knights have a potential market of 4,000,000?? WTF?? Theres only 4,000,000 people in the whole of NZ and as if people are going to fly up from the south island or wellington to watch them...no fukin way.
Their market is the Auckland market, which i think is about a mil, or maybe less

I remember in the nsl when they moved a few games to Wellington they got a few reasonable crowds, in Aucklund nobody seems to care period, it really would be interesting to see on their best day, (weather, ladder position) what sort of crowd they could get, if they were topping the table i still dont think they would ever exceed 10k, problem is we are never going to find out with this lot because they have been crap since they been in the oz league.
The ffa would be pulling their hair out over this mob, their full potential will NEVER be realised! it was an ok gimmick at first but its never looked like working, they can only succeed with wins on the park and i mean a sh1tload of wins, 1 win a year = horrific crowds and quite frankly i dont blame the kiwi public either.....their painfull to watch, either the ffa completely spoon feed them and lift them up even via rigging or just dump them for good, its getting to a ridiculous stage now.

There is only one New Zealand side in the A-League. This means the club has a potential market that is capped at the countries population of about 4 million. You make a valid point about people in other regions hardly likely to fly in to watch them play but you have to remember that support can be shown by other means such as watching the team on NZ TV or by purchasing NZKFC merchandise. Of course no one suggests they will ever attract anything other than a small percentage of this figure. However, even if the club was able to attract a fan base of 5% this would equate to 200,000 supporters. Compare this with markets such as Wollongong, Canberra or Townsville that some want to replace NZKFC and those clubs would need to attract near 100% of their population base to equal 200,000.
Are the NZKFC currently a joke of a team on the field? Yes! Have NZKFC got all but zero supporters off the field? Yes! However, given their potential market of 4,000,000 the FFA would not want to replace them with an Australian team that represents a market that is so infinitely smaller. This is the argument as outlined by the FFA during the recent off season and it was so strong it convinced me to abandon my view that NZKFC must be removed.
