From The Age web site:

Ceccoli dropped for Knights clash

September 18, 2006 - 2:14PM

Sydney FC defender Alvin Ceccoli has been dropped for disciplinary reasons for Thursday's A-League soccer clash against the NZ Knights in Auckland.

The club announced on Monday that Ceccoli will not travel with the squad after he took issue with sideline instructions from coach Terry Butcher during the 2-2 draw with the Newcastle Jets at Aussie Stadium.

Cecolli was substituted six minutes after the incident with Butcher trying to crackdown on his team's ill-discipline on the field.

Veteran midfielder Steve Corica was earlier sent off in the 68th minute for calling the referee a "f****** cheat".

The club had yet to decide on Monday whether to take any action against Corica.

Haha nice SJ

Ceccoli is one of my most hated as well. What a tool.

But his actions during the game suggest the players don't respect Butcher much.

Was always going to be an issue after Littbarski left.

Ceccoli is overated and i dont think Sydney would miss him too much. How he got in to the Socceroos side i will never know. I think the pressure has got to Sydney.

Sydney skipper Rudan: Thanks Archie
tribalfooball.com - September 18, 2006

Sydney FC captain Mark Rudan has thanked Archie Thompson for the extra motivation after the striker claimed Melbourne will win the league this season.

"Archie says Melbourne will win the league -- that's really pumped us up. He's done us a great favour," Rudan said.

lol, what a tool that rudan guy is.

Sounds like he'll have a mate with him. Looks like Corica could be given an extended ban for calling Matthew Breeze a.......well, you know what we like to call refs when we are losing.

Cmon this is Shitme - aint gunna happen in the end

(and quite rightly too - even tho it hurts me to say it - he was disciplined for the offence with a Red Card - so he shouldnt be punished again)

Just watched a repeat of the Squidney v Jets game and you'd have to say their arrogant behaviour is the root of a lot of their problems. From the dissent to the ref's. And now to their coach. The way they play against other teams and their belief that they have to win because everyone else is inferior. I think winning the league has clagged their brains.

Butcher isn't helping with his "It's everyone against Sydney". And their forum is an embodiment of arrogance.

So Karma may well be at work.

lol, what a tool that rudan guy is.

So Sydney are so bloody hopeless they need Archie to get them interested in winning. Obviously a great culture at that club.

They have not been sent off though. they might have got a bit dirty in NZ as it was quite wet and muddy
