Neill agent reveals AC Milan, Liverpool, Barcelona contact

The agent of Blackburn Rovers defender Lucas Neill has confirmed the interest of AC Milan in the Australian.
Peter Harrison told calciomercato.com: "Milan are interested. We have spoken to them thanks to the relationship my Italian partner, Giuliano Terraneo, has with the Rossonera.

"I also have had contact from English clubs. Milan are not alone. Here in England Liverpool are very interested.

"And yes, Barcelona have asked for information on the player, and in Spain they're not alone, there's two other clubs that are interested." .

naaa, i think he will become a better player if he moves to a big club.

liverpool is the safe option as rafa has a rotation policy, he already lives in england, and harry kewell is there and they are good mates and roomies on socceroo trips, so much so that if one of them isnt selected, the other bunks along.

i dont think he would get that much game time at barca, but we will see,

Personally, I prefer my defenders to be playing in the EPL.

Attacking Midfielders in the La Liga and Strikers in the Serie A.

Don't know why, but have always prefered it that way.

no room for him at barca with zambrotta at the brazilian right back there. Liverpool would be a good option, he could possibly break throughat AC aswell if thins went his way. His ready to move on from Blackburn, a class above them.

Strange selection since Italy have been known for having the best defenders in the world.

Yer and England are gonna win another World Cup.

I think he wanted the strikers playing in Italy so they can play against some of the best defenders in the world.

Personally i reckon he should either go to Liverpool because of the rotation system. He might be able to squeez in at Milan considering the shit they have been serving up lately. Barca just bought Zambrotta and Thuram so i wont expect him to go there.

and some absolute hacks up front ;)

Anyway, I want him at Anfield.

That way there would be 2 great Aussies for my EPL club, and one of them should actually be fit enough to play for more than a month at a time. Plus, we need all the help we can get, the league table is depressing ATM.

Then attacking midfilders in La liga. Surely Serie A has the best Defensive midfielders in the world for them to compete against. Not taking anything away from La Liga's DM's but Guys like Pirlo,Veira,Gattuso,Cambiasso,De Rossi etc. I think it was just his personal choice.

Milan is a chance. I don't know how much longer Cafu and Maldini will be there for, and surely Neil is now better than Šimić. The thing about Milan is all there defenders except for Bonera are all old, and surely they would want to have a look at a younger up and coming defender who is reaching his prime, like a Neil.

In terms of Barca, no chance. Puyol, Marquez, Zambrotta are all ahead of him. Thuram is on the wrong side of 30 and probably will hang up the boots in the next season or so. However there are some other defenders at Barca like Belletti, Gio and Oleguer who he has to centest with. Not an easy task.

Liverpool is his best bet. I think Hypia's best days are long gone, and Finnan and Carragher have not been playing all too well. Neil is very suited to the EPL and i think the type of player he is suits Liverpool a lot. He is very versitile and can play right back or CB, which means he can always swap around with players like Finnan, Hypia, Aurellio and Agger.

Ethier Milan or Liverpool will be a big boast for him. To play with the players of both teams quality will just do him good. If he wasn't so important to the Australian team then i would say go to Barca but he needs regular game time so those two are the best option.

Much of what you say is corrrect.
We do have some "younger" defenders in the form of Kaladze, Bonera, Jankulovski etc...

Lucas Neil is a genuine star and i would love to see him replace the 45 years old Cafu at right back.

I think Lucas does lack a little bit in attacing down the right flank and his delivery into the area but we can adjust for that.

Would gladly welcome the arrival of Lucas Neil to Milan.

I don't think you need Neil to be so attacking. You got players like bonera, oliveira and jankulovski who fullfill that role down the left or right. I'm talking more players to fill the CB role which will be a gapping hole when Maldini and Cafu retire (eventhough Cafu plays right back ussually). I just don't think Simic really cuts it, and Neil would be a great addition. Imagine him and Gattuso working together, tough as nails.

Yep i agree in the respect of playing him as a CB. Especially with the age of Nesta and rumours rife that he will return to Lazio next summer.
Maldini is done.

Kaladze/Bonera/Neil could well be the future of our once great defence.

Geez i keep forgetting about Kaladze. Nesta has 1-2 more years left in him, especially with his injuries of late, his glory days are over. Can't understand why he would wan't to go back to Lazio:confused:

Because he came to Milan at his peak. Won a league title, a Champions League title, now that he is shit again, he will return to Lazio :)

I hope youre bloody well joking, thats an insult to the football world.

Oh and in regards to players
Italy for Defenders.
Spain for Strikers
England for Midfielders.

Wants proof? start as chelsea in FM and make a team with these players... you will not be let down.
