A good youth team coach getting good results creates a platform, a base from which football can develop to a higher standard in senior teams.

When a youth coach has got the likes of Burns, Vidosic, Patafta, etc and can't get a result he should go.

Ange is sitting on his hands ffs.

Look at Pekerman's record with junior teams. I'm not saying I expect youth teams to win world cups, it's just that they should be able to get bloody close, they should at least be able to qualify.

TURF HIM OUT HE SHOULD GO!

I watched it, great debate. Alot of spite.

Well done Fozzie for drilling him - someone had to.

Yes there is alot of problems - no youth league, not being able to spend enough time with the kid etc. but at the end of the day you put that aside and HAVE to quailty with both age groups.

Its a very poor effort he did not. Sack him.

God bless Craig Foster.

Les only butted in at the end, it was nothing more than a political statement, which the SBS Muppet Show enjoy doing each week.

Craig Foster was quite direct, but is that the only argument against him? That he spoke his mind, as a football analyst? Shouldn't he have?

Obviously, you would expect he show some sort of respect to Ange, and perhaps he didn't exercise enough 'niceties.' However, the essence of his words was this: you are a coach, you get paid to do a job, and you failed in that job. Do you accept responsibilty, and will you therefore step down?

Amongst all the arguing and emotion, the rational argument was lost. This is where SBS failed, but I won't take Ange's side because I pity him. We cannot accept failure, and that is what his reign has been.

sorry guys but some times you need some one to spell it out. fozzie is right in saying that ange cant coach. At the end of the day the buck stops with ange as coach. all i keept hearing from ange was you were not there ect passing the buck. well dont to fozzie. we have to many gut less reporters to tell it as it is. At least fozzie man enough to tell him to quit his job

Good on fozzie he's showing passion. Ange is a dick "why don't you come to our training session" lol. Thats it everyone we can't critise anymore, unless we go to the training sessions.

Absolutely, you all criticized Butcher when he said this.

I don't feel sorry for Ange at all. So what if Fozzie called for Ange's head in front of him!? What's he supposed to you? Wtf?

***Ohh, Mr Postecoglou, you've just had 5 years of really bad luck, that's all, everything will be alright don't worry, we've only got the most talented youngsters we've ever had but that's ok.***

Wake up to yourselves, the guy needs to be told to pull his finger out and start getting results, that's what he's there for. Why was Ange talking about results in 2001? What's happened in the 5-6 years since then?

Good on Fozzie for sticking it to him, Ange needs to prove his worth or get stuffed, it doesn't matter how hard he's trying, it's a results driven industry and that's the reality, half of you guys have gone totally soft.

That Ange can't even properly articulate his weak as piss arguments should be enough to give the game away in any case - same as Farina.

Fozzie recognised what you all should, Ange Postecoglu has gone stale, he isn't getting results, he won't accept responsibility until it's written in a report, he refuses to be held accountable to media analyists. It's him you should be pointing the finger at, not Fozzie.

Witch hunt implies there's no justification. As far as I'm concerned there's a truck load. Thanks for doing your job Fozzie.

Exactly right. I agree that Ange should be sacked, but it was like two 8 yr olds arguing in the end. I was disappointed in Les, obviously he was happy to let Fozzie go as well otherwise he'd have broken in earlier, instead we got 5+ minutes of "I know you are, but what am I?" style crap with none of the pressing issues looked at whatsoever. To be fair, Ange himself shouldn't have taken the bait, you'd be think he'd have been more prepared for the inevitable Fozzie attack, instead he descended to his level as well.

Like bazza said, Johnny Warren would have got to the core of the issues without resorting to childishness. eg. If you watched the games on ABC2 you will see what a good balanced analyst Johnny was. That interview was a complete fucking waste of time, and further reason why SBS is being alienated from mainstream Aus football more by the day. Foster really needs to look at his approach to things, but I'm afraid he's already burnt all his bridges with most football people (by that I mean FFA personnel) in this country, he has the right ideas, he just needs more decorum.

In all fairness to Fozzie it was actually Ange who took Fozzie's initial comment personally and began an attack against Fozzie's credentials. Fozzie simply reacted like everyone else would and decided to lay it out how it was rather than trying to be diplomatic with an arrogant bombastic failure like Ange Postecoglou. Ange is obviously feeling the pressure hence his volatile attitude and finger-pointing rather than accepting the blame.

Funny how Ange bagged Foster for never goin to a youth match

Then an hour or so later Andrew Orsatti had a dig at fossie for Ditchin the Scum FC v Kiwi game and instead attending the U2 concert

Untermensch
November 12th, 2006, 06:38 PM
Ange told Fozzie that his opinion is invalid because he wasn't at the match. Well fuck, in that case if we had to attend every single match in order to form an opinion about a team or coach etc then there wouldn't be any discussion neither on this forum nor The World Game. Ange was clutching at straws and looking to save face. I'm sure the repercussions will be worse for him than they will be for Craig Foster.

futuremelvicstar

I didn't see the interview but for me Ange was crap. I know that he didn't have everything going for him (youth league) but with the players on hand and the time he has had with them he could adleast get them playing some decent football. Which we realy didn't China made us look like headless chooks i just couldn't bare to watch it it was so embarssing and painful. His had some many games with this team but yet they didn't look like they had ever played together. Problem is though i don't want the FFA acting like a TD and hireing a new coach i have heard the Kossie or the A.I.S guy might get it i hope this is not the case becuase i am sure they will both have there own ideas and our youth team will be going a different direction then the national team. Imagine under Kossie just playing counter attacks :(. FFA GET A TD FFS.
