from the world game website:
There is increased speculation that Australia coach Frank Farina is set to be sacked by Football Federation Australia (FFA), with a decision expected within the next few days.
The FFA would not confirm or deny the news, but SBS understands an announcement is imminent.

Your an absolute muff bh_warrior
Read the feckin article that you have posted.
A. Its speculation
B. FFA isn't commenting.
C. John O'Neill said last week in Germany that FF would see out his contract.
Where in f*cks name does it say FF has been sacked?
Nowhere
Rant over

Right move if hes sacked IMO, hes taken us no where in the 5 years hes been in control, and he lacks the basic fundementals that make a manager a good manager (neglecting youth, not very well spoken with the media etc..). Seems like a great bloke, and was a champion player, but if Football in Australia is going to move on, it needs a breath of fresh air in the management department.

Can anyone else confirm that this is what was heard on SBS World Sports?
I have a feeling you misquoted.
TWG and SBS World Sports say the same thing.
And what your saying is different to what the article is saying.

i hope for this, but they need a replacement to step in immedietly after his depature. there is not long to go before the qualifiers and a new coach will need time with the players to make any sort of difference and have them comfortable with his style

Hi guys. I am brazilian so I think I dont have rights to criticize your national coach, but how can a coach being able to hold his job for so long without showing results, when you have some good players?

Sorry, what i wanted to say it was that the Australian team has some good players but where are the results? If you are already losing, at least give a chance for some new ideas.

well remember against germany we lost our first game in 12 games, we lost against quility teams in the confed cup,

what kind of team do you think Australia will meet at the world cup? If you can not beat a quality team in an official tournament, why to waste time to play in a world cup? give the chance to another team who is willing to be there.

I dont understand. A week ago O'neil said that FF job was safe until after the WC. If this is true it is not the best timing. But having said that, he had to go.

I don't know about other sports, but pretty much the worst thing for an AFL coach to hear is "he has the full support of the board". The amount of times a coach has been sacked within a matter of weeks after those kinds of comments would hardly reassure anybody.

True. They have left it too late tho. The damage has been done. 7 and half months isnt enough time to fully ajust a team to a new coach and his methods.

Completely agree.
I think there is a more pressing issue than the World Cup though:
Making it in the first place
The qualifier is in 4 and a bit months time.
This means that the national team has that amount of time to settle with a new coach.
Not looking good :(

June 28th, 2005, 09:47 PM
True. It's all very well to say they have 7 & a half months wen they really only have 4. Because there is no point get worked up about the WC if ur not gonna qualify in the first place.
Gonna have to find a supercoach that can make things happen quick.

June 28th, 2005, 09:54 PM
well remember against germany we lost our first game in 12 games, we lost against quility teams in the confed cup,
Australia didn't beat anyone ranked lower than 50th in those 12 games and it included playing the Solomon Islands three times. The closest they got was a draw with Norway and South Africa ranked somewhere in the 30s.
Hardly an impressive stat.

The World Game article says he will be seeing out his contract which ends after the campaign to qualify for the World Cup.
So the team wouldn't need to adjust to anything in the meanwhile.
I think though to give us the best advantage (If we make the World Cup) is to have who ever will be replacing Frank be there to slowly adjust the team to his style of play so that by the time the World Cup is here, the team will be prepared enough. But then there is negatives like the Frank and the replacement fighting or not seeing eye to eye.

Thats even worse. They play under FF til WC Qualifier, then say they do qualify, have a bit over 3 months to ajust to a new coach before the WC.

All world sports mentioned way ‘mounting speculation’, i.e. the thread is rubbish.
The report corresponds with the article.

What have you been smoking Stamps?
The WC Qualifier is in November.
November plus 3 and a bit months equals February/March.
World Cup is in June and July
That is 7 months after the qualifier.

It's not to late to get a new coach. Other countries do it during WCQ's campaigns. Our's is still a few months or so away. The team isn't settled at the moment with Farina. He is playing people all over the park out of position and he is still trying all these different formations. With how he is coaching now, we aren't going nowhere, so what difference is bringing in a new coach. Your risking it what ever way, and I'd be more confident with a new recognised international coach than Farina taking us to the World Cup. Craig Foster even thinks its not to late, and he is an ex-international and played in England, and know's a hell of alot about Football, and is President of the Players Union. A decent new International coach also brings with him freshness and new life into the team, look at what Venables did. Bring on the change now. Non of this, " we'll just keep with Farina for the next few months and if we don't make it to the World Cup, we can get a new coach for the next one." F_ck the next World Cup, focus on the priorities, which is Germany 2006. Farina OUT NOW........

Sounds like Frank is more of a mate then a coach which is not what a coaching is all about going by what the #1 German socceroos fan has to say on the issue he said that his father could do a better job.
The last game against Tunsia he said Frank had no idea what he is doing
and is not hard enough on the payers when they stuff up on the field really Neill should of been dragger for that first goal.

well it is too late to bring in a coach that has no idea about australian players
shouldn't be a problem...judging by his selections, Frank didn't have any idea about Australian players either

BH was still wrong in the principle.

Frank Farina is GONE! Let’s Celebrate!!!
What a fabulous day! I personally have waited for this day since our (Australia not the f**ken Socceross as he still calls us) elimination from 2002. The last straw was against Argentina recently when we had to win the progress to the next round and the Idiot played a 4.5.1 formation for most of the game.
Now with Farina gone, next is Harry Kewell. He is a self serving snake only happy to play which it suits himself and not the country. Yes, yes he maybe injured but wasn’t Viduka and he still ran out to the pitch in previous games.
Nether the less, this is the second best (behind the new A-League) thing to happen for Football Australia is hopefully with the right coach, (who won’t take still from people like Harry Kewell) Australia should and will progress to the final 32 in Germany in 2006.
