I agree.
He'd do a good job :D

Sir Alex Ferguson or Martin O'Neill.
Two truly inspirational men and two truly inspirational managers.
Along with Mourinho and Benitez they're the four best in the world.

Houllier has been helping out Australia for a while on the technical side.
He was touted as the new Director of Football down here.
He is a very realistic option IMO.
Benitez obviously not.

the talk around is that pierre litbarski will get the job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dermot
June 28th, 2005, 11:10 PM
I think some people at SBS would like to see him take the reigns as some stage.
That’s why you might hear this rumour floating around.
At the end of the day, it’s just SBS supporting Sydney… What a surprise!
I think to install Littbarski as coach would be a shocking decision, the last thing that we need is an unproved coach.
What's Bruno Metsu up to?

I swear we could put Damo from fan's corner on and he'll do a better job than Farina. Anybody could. Our Football coach at school Mr Davies could do better. Just get that retard out of there.

I read something last year about foreign coaches had expressed interest. One I remember was the French guy, can't remember his name, who took Senegal to the World Cup in 2002. He new we had good players and he wanted to have a go. That was around the time that Farina's job was under question last year. I'm sure Football Australia have been keeping in contact with people like him behind the scene's.

Obviously we will need to recruit some oversea's coaching talent and someone that will be able to take up the job fast. Theres not many that fit that order.

maybe someone that has taken a team to the world cup before, someone that can make desicions under pressure, he would have to come from overseas seeing no one from australia has done that

That's Bruno Metsu. He wouldn't be the worst we could get.
Basically we need a coach who has taken an unproven country to the World Cup before. I wouldn't mind the guy who coaches PSV and took South Korea to the semis in 2002 (Gus Hiddink) but I think that's impossible. They need to be used to dealing with a culture of mediocrity and know how to change that around. He needs to have enough experience winning!

How much money do we have to spend?
We need someone who is either French or Dutch. Whenever a team makes it's first appearance at the World Cup, or first time there in a long while, or suddenly better than previous attempts, the coach is almost always French or Dutch. (Refer Japan, South Korea or any number of African countries.) Anyone good available? Is Jean Tigana doing anything these days?
OR
We could get Bora Milutinovic. He has taken Mexico, Costa Rica, USA, Nigeria and China to the World Cup, why not Australia? All we need is someone to get us into the World Cup. Then we can get rid of him (I don't actually like him much) and trade up!

No poms.
European or South American needed, German, French, Dutch, Argentine, Brazilian.
We have to get a quality coach, who has international experience, who has an eye on the future. Even if we don't qualify this time, we need a coach who has a plan for the team. So we can qualify through Asia for 2010.

June 29th, 2005, 08:16 PM
True. We need to think to the future. It is a very realistic senario that we wont qualify and we need a coach that isnt gonna say "Bad luck, ya didnt qualify..... Well im off, pass me my check" We wont someone who will stick around 4 the long run.

I personally want an exciting manager - a big name.
That would go well with the excitment of the A-League and the move into Asia.

Passionate = yes
Young = not necessarily.
We wont someone experienced and someone that well no how to fix our problems from their experience, not by experimenting ( Like FF did!! )

I thought one of the criticisms of Farina was that he didn't experiment enough
For example players like Vidmar constantly got called up while the likes of McDonald and Kisnorbo didn't get enough of a run.

June 29th, 2005, 08:55 PM
True. But wot i ment was FF learnt from his mistake by continuously doin them and trying to spot wot was wrong (Vidmar is the perfect example, however they r bed buddies). We want someone who will be able to tell wots wrong straight away. Which requires experience.

I want someone experienced and calculated.
Bruno Metsu, Bora Milutinovic and Philippe Troussier would all be good candidates
