West Brom seal Almeyda transfer

Soccernet

West Bromwich Albion manager Bryan Robson has made Argentine midfielder Matias Almeyda his first signing, according to reports.
The 31-year-old joins the Baggies on a free from Serie A club Brescia, where his contract was cancelled by mutual consent after a falling out with the club.

Almeyda began his career with River Plate before moving to Spanish side Sevilla and then joining Italians Lazio, where he won the double in 2000.

Robson is keen to reshape the West Brom squad and Almeyda could be the first of many new signings during the January transfer window.

Other names being linked with a move to the Hawthorns are Boro's Joseph-Desire-Job, Liverpool striker Neil Mellor and Celtic's Juninho.

Fairly good signing for the Baggies. It seems the 3 promoted clubs have each been able to attract past quality players from Serie A (Nicola Ventola -Crystal Palace (Inter), Thomas Helveg - Norwich (Milan) ) Definitely good for the quality of the EPL. I doubt he will be able to save them from relegation though

He is a very solid signing though. Needs to sign more to save them though.
Not liking them chasing Mellor though....don't think he is that brilliant
But then again neither are WBA.
Is Juninho already unhappy at Celtic?
He just signed there, would Celtic think of selling him?

It could be risky for West Brom though, as Argentines haven't always settled well in England. Obviously Crespo for one, and Luciano Figueroa, the young (ish) Forward who was signed by Birmingham and never really found his feet, then got palmed off to Cruz Azul in Mexico. Eh, it could be just me but I dont think he'll add a whole lot.

He has pedigree though....but WBA lack quality all over the pitch...they were probably the least equipped of the promoted sides to stay up as they didnt really sign well (Is Kanu still alive?)
WBA need a fair few more signings or they will find themselves playing in Sheffield again next season.
I think that WBA supporters must be the best at riding rollercoasters.....promoted...relegated....promote d....fire manager......relegated
