Why Arsenal vs Tottenham over Arsenal vs Chelsea?
Traditional rivals.
STampSY
July 1st, 2005, 09:09 PM
I no that, but i wood have thort because of the rise in power of Chelsea the games between Arsenal and Chelski are a lot more competitive and The rivalry is becoming more fierce.

Why Arsenal vs Tottenham over Arsenal vs Chelsea?
Arsenal vs Tottenham is bigger then Arsenal vs Chelsea for sure, with its tradition it is the hottest fought rivalry in London especially to the fans, which really was turned up in recent times with Sol Campbell moving from Spurs to the Gunners. Arsenal vs Chelsea I think is more of a recent thing as both teams are fighting at the top of the Premiership.

True it is not technically a derby but the spanish still refer to it as the El Derby Espanol.

For a derby with class football on show and a number of superstars playing you would go for the Chelski vs Arsenal game no doubt. For a long time supporter of either Spurs or Arsenal I think they would go for the old traditional derby game which means everything to them, it all comes down to getting one over their arch rival.

'Cause Chelsea are middle of the road no ones traditionally (remember, first EPL in 50 years?) with a rich bloke in charge.
Whilst Spurs are powerhouses (traditionally) whom have had a intense rivarly with Arsenal for 100 years, not Chelsea.

Yeah when Ken Bates bought them for £1 they were playing in like the 3rd tier of English Football? So the Chelski v Arsenal one is more a recent thing of being the best team in England, not a pure rivalry like Arsenal v Spurs

Well if that is at me, im just trying to point out 2 you which one is the greater rivalry, you are a fan of English football I am guessing so surly you would comprehend that arsenal v spurs is bigger, any English Football fan could tell you that, and where does this jealousy fall into it???

jelousy of what?all we are saying is that chelsea and arsenal are not as big rivals as spurs and arsenal, even though spurs are crap now, we still are big rivals and we arsenal fans enjoy seen henry dribble from half way, get passed 10 spurs players and than scoring the goal, will never forget that goal,

CARDIFF CITY v SWANSEA CITY   doesn't matter what divisions we're in, if we meet it's carnage!! i've attended many derby's including the old firm and this has to be the most palpable example of hatred you could find  if you visit the forums of both teams, you'd understand  the
two more simple reasons for this would be swansea's '2nd city syndrome'
Cardiff being the Capitol city :p and the polarised politics of the supporters  Cardiff being a very cosmopolitan city we are very diverse in race, religion, etc, but we ALL consider ourselves as Welsh first :D
Swansea's supporters however are renowned for their St George flags with
BNP emblazoned across the front  even worse they sport the red hand of ulster  and many are avowed orangemen and partake in their
strange activities in belfast

Yeah, I think (viewing from a distance) they've got on since Hillsbrough. There are a lot of joint Everton/Liverpool families as well aparently.
City vs United is a bit of a laugh :D they're such liars, constantly living in denial.
Ben, Liverpool vs United isn't a derby. The cities are about 57km apart.

Facking spot on!
The Rivalry between Spurs and the Gooners goes back all the way to 1919 when Spurs were on the verge of being relegated in 2nd last spot when the league decided to extend the league by two places, of course Tottenham thought that they would be saved by this but instead their place was given to Arsenal who only finished 6th in the 2nd division. Spurs fans still say to this day that the Goons bribed their way in. But all is history and the Goons have never given up their place.
Also the fact that Spurs have always been from North London and Arsenal were just a team from Woolwich in South London who moved North before WW1, also is a reason why the teams have such a big rivalry!
As also stated the Judas C***ball act has also added to the rivalry.
Also remember that SPURS ARE STILL MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN CHELSEA!
doesnt matter where the teams are now Chelsea are from West London and have never had a big rivalry with Arsenal. It takes more than 2 years and the hundreds of Millions of pounds one man has put into Chelsea it doesnt make up for the 90 odd years of Spurs and Arsenal fighting one another on the pitch and in the stands.
I will give you that we are not the powerhouses we once were (first british team to win a european trophy, first team on the stockmarket, first team in the modern era to win the Double, first non league team to win the FA Cup) but that doeant make the rivalry any smaller just make us want to beat the pricks even more!
Any person who thinks that Chelsea- Gooners have a bigger rivalry either-
1- Dont know the history between Spurs- Arsenal
2- Have never been to North London
3- (the most obvious one) Have just jumped onto the Chelski Bandwagon!
Chelsea NEVER will have a rival with anyone but FULHAM!

The only real derby in OZ is PRESTON vs SM. Forget divisions and leagues, we clash anywhere including friendlies organised by the cops, and that's just class. Victory will never have anything like this, even in 100 years if they are still around that long.
As far as local darbies in Europe - Red Star vs Partizan, Galata vs Fener, PAOK vs Aris and Olimpiakos vs Panathenaikos from the balkans, Roma vs Lazio in italy and the old firm derby and Milwall vs Chelsea from the UK would be probably the best to see. Plenty of hate, rivalry and action on and of the pitch. Non local darbies (yep, they are still called darbies) Dinamo Zagreb vs Red Star (well this use to be GREAT), Juve vs Milan, Livorno vs Lazio (communists vs nazi), Barca vs Real.
From South America Boca vs River vs Indepndiente. Considering that 80% of the Argentine league is from Buenos Aires there is plenty of local action there, and they are truly crazy about it.

What kind of ******wit are you? Geez sorry I guess I shouldn't say that my favourite / most well known derbies are:
AC vs Inter
Boca vs River
Flamengo vs Vasco
Real vs Athletico isn't up to much unfortunately, as for Real and Barca, well I don't care if it isn't a derby, it's one of the greatest ever rivalries and worthy of a mention, it's unbelieveable.
Ohh sorry my mistake, I haven't been to Argentina or Brazil before so I shouldn't have mentioned the last two (wtf? d.ickhead!) but I have been in Milan, in '97, and I remember they were playing - I think Inter won too.
