Australian striker John Aloisi has officially left Spanish side Osasuna to sign a two-year contract with Greek outfit Panathinaikos.
This season’s Greek runners-up, along with Premiership side Portsmouth, had allegedly been keeping tabs on the experienced Aussie forward, and as the player looked decided to make his Osasuna exit, they made a move and landed his services on a two-year deal.
The signing of Aloisi at Panathinaikos is considered to be a major coup, the Australian having proved his worth during last month’s Confederation Cup, where he scored 4 goals and ended up second best scorer of the tournament despite his side’s early group stage exit.
"Up until now, I have played at medium-level teams that have ended up in the middle of the table. Panathinaikos have given me the chance to play at a higher level and I am really happy about that. Now I have the opportunity to show my potential and win titles,” said Aloisi.
