Honest valuation here.
If you don't like him still put in footballing terms what you believe he is worth

I believe he is valued at about the 13-15 million pound mark.
There aren't many 29 year old's worth more.
Unless chelski are buying :D
Nah seriously i think we got a good deal for him.

The price we got for him is fair, its just no amount of money can fill vieiras gap, you can't buy the captaincy, its something that will change the club. But with the money from Paddy's transfer we get a bit of a larger scope on who we can choose to fill the gap.

Completely agree with all said.
All night I have been trying to say that Arsenal should have held out for more money if he is the player that everyone says he is.
But I don't think he is.
This is why he was sold for not as much as expected.

As for finding a good replacement?
Good luck :o
We've been trying for 3 years to find a decent DM.
Look how much luck we have had :p

EDIT: Come on MSN bray :)

Think Arsenal could have squeezed a little more out of Juve, or maybe a player, I think too many people think age is a huge factor, it isn't as big as what people say. look at shearer, begkamp and roy keane

I would have thought that because of his not-as-stellar-as-in-the-past form this season that his value would have dropped to about 20 million pounds. Arsenal got robbed.

At peak Vieira would have been worth 30 million plus.
But seeing Essien is worth about that now, Vieira in his peak (by todays valuation) would have been worth 40 mill plus.

I am in mourning.

Juventus star Vieira: I want Man Utd move
tribalfooball.com - August 01, 2006

Juventus midfielder Patrick Vieira has made a 'come and get me' plea to Manchester United.

The Sun says the ex-Arsenal star, 30, has decided to quit Juventus after their relegation in the Serie A match-fixing scandal.

Vieira said: "Everyone wants to play for a club like Manchester United at the very highest level. It might be difficult after nine years at Arsenal but anything can happen in football.

"I will certainly not be playing for Juventus next season after they were relegated to Serie B.

"I believe my future will be sorted out in the next 48 hours."

Vieira joined Juventus for ?13.7m last summer after nine years at the Gunners.

But with the Turin side dumped from Italy's top flight and without Champions League football, Juve need to off-load their highly-paid stars.

That means United boss Alex Ferguson could get Vieira for as little as ?6m

Imagine that.
Probably a brilliant signing.
I wouldn't want O'Shea, Giggs or fletcher to play one minute if you actually want to win the title.

He won't be as good as he was at Arsenal though...
