I'm putting Richmond up there with the best. Nice selection of fatty foods and lovely german beer.

Nothing beats a steak roll at the Veneto club- for Essendon or Bulleen games. --as long as its fresh-- if its not fresh- its shit.

At least Richmond's inside so you're nice and warm! (And can retreat from the German hools...or is their cake just a front to lure you into a false sense of security  )

one reason why Epping is a poor stadium for modern day standards, the fact that its now where near the action, and the fact that theres only one makes it hard, same as Bulleen

There are very few grounds capable of controlling the NCF when we are on the rampage.

FFV is bringing in ground rationalisation in because they know the NCF will very soon wipe out several grounds.

Thought I should start a VPL/State/Provvy foodies thread, where you can rate the quality of food at the clubs you've visited this season. One thing is for sure, it kicks arse over anything you're likely to buy this winter (read: ever) at Telstra Dome or the MCG.

Richmond - Kransky Roll. $? Kranskys were quite big and filling, though I was hoping that they were grilled, rather than boiled. Served in a long crusty roll with onion and topped with tomato sauce and American mustard. 7/10

Melbourne Knights - Cevapcici Rolls. $6. Grilled on a hotplate, and put into a long roll with cabbage. I had my doubts about the cabbage, but it complemented them perfectly. Bit of of dead horse on top, and washed down with a beer. Heavenly. 9/10

I was at Somers Street last night for the first time in years, and, frankly, I was very disappointed by the lack of cevapcicis. A Croatian club with no cevaps? FFS.
Knights were shit as well. Need some strong bodies and more pace.
I ate all the cevapis. Sen-bloody-sational! :hungry:

And fuck, I don't understand how any team could've played well on that pitch! I know, blame the drought and all, but Richmond, Altona and Sunshine's pitch wasn't that bad.

Cevapcici (Yugoslavian Sausages)

Recipe By : The Frugal Gourmet On Our Immigrant Ancestors
Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : New Text Import

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 lb ground lamb
1 lb ground veal
1 lb ground pork
1 large yellow onion, peeled and grated
3 cloves garlic -- peeled and crushed
3 tbsp hot Hungarian paprika, or
sweet paprika and a little cayenne
2 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
Salt to taste
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Olive oil for basting

Mix all the ingredients, except the oil, thoroughly and roll the mixture into
little “cigars” about 1 inch by 3 inches. Rub lightly with olive oil and grill
or broil until done. These are great on the barbecue.

They were grilled on a hotplate, and put into a roll with cabbage. I had my doubts about the cabbage, but it complemented them perfectly. Bit of of dead horse on top, and washed down with a beer. Heavenly.

I will tell you one thing. Growing up an afl man I have visited a number of clubs in the east & thought the food wanst bad, a pie at Heathmont was good, hotdog at Kilsyth good.

But last pre-season I went to a few vpl grounds to watch Victory play and OMG, the food at these venue is just amazing, with many things I have not seen before (joys of being a skip I guess). The sausage (term doesnt do justice) in bread with onion etc at Bullen, devine. The souva at Oakliegh was just fantastic and the food at epping wasnt bad. Looks like I have to go to smmors street now.

This winter I think I will be going to see football, not only because I find the game better but the food is great at a reasonable price, wash it down with a bevvie or 2 and bingo, a great saturday arvo.
