The title sums it up really.
Post your thoughts, news, views, predictions, gossip, rants, etc. for the VPL in this thread.
There's a fair bit of interest in the league so I'll keep it a sticky if the admin agrees to it.

Early predictions for me:
Top 6 -
1. Green Gully Cavaliers
2. Fawkner/Whittlesea Blues
3. South Melbourne
4. Preston Lions
5. Altona Magic
6. Bulleen Zebras
I honestly dont think anybody will come close to beating Green Gully once again, but hey, there has been a lot of transfer action happening in the off season and many teams look promising...even Kingston and Richmond dont look to bad.
The South Melbourne VS Preston Lions matches:
26th February - 5pm Kickoff @ Bob Jane Stadium
25th June - 3pm Kickoff @ BT. Connor Reserve
- both these matches will be played behind closed doors, although the members of the HOME team will be able to enter the ground. This ban is known to many and will continue until season 2008. It's a good and a bad thing but whatever floats the FFV's boat.
Something tells me there will be a major suprise this season, cant nail it though so we'll have to see what happens.
Stay tuned to:

Yes, playing out of Kevin Bartlett Reserve.
Their ground is surely below VPL standards. Not only is the surface very ordinary at best, things like car parking are hell at that ground. When the draw a team like Sth with a big following, i dont no what they'll do with car parking. Ive been to watch them play against teams with hardly any support and it was still packed with cars.

Even if their stadium is below VPL standards, they may very well be in the process of refurbishing. Even Preston, we dont have a great stadium but it does the job by the standards. Dont make the mistake and think VPL standards are way up there.

December 21st, 2005, 09:51 PM
According to soccer-forum.net, Preston won 3-2, Manceski 2, Dolevski. Apparantly Preston dominated the last 20 minutes, probably much as South dominated the last 30 minutes against Richmond last Sunday. I wonder how much fitness is an issue as opposed to the quality, we'll only really see when the real thing starts i guess.

Preston vs SM final with Gully the only other team to have a chance of wining the league. Beside the 3 mentioned Knights, Heidelberg and one of Altona or Fawkner to make the top 6. Essendon and Bullen will be relegated.
Last year Preston just missed out on the finals but that was after a poor start under Trajcevski, a major off the field incident vs SM, a complete change of the committee and two of its best players (Sivevski and Pace) missing most of the season through injury. For most of the season Preston had only Sekulovski and Magniacca in the middle with kids from the bench filling in. This year it will be different with both of those players fully recovered plus Tyfun Demirol (the NSW captain) and few others. Preston's weakest link (the goalkeeper Zilic) has been replaced with Grueski, former Macedonian international and now Preston has not only the best keeper in the league but probably in OZ. The biggest loss is Sapazovski who has been replaced with George Weah's cousin, a liberian international who has scored 11 goals in 14 matches for his country. It is more then likely that another international striker will join Preston just before the start of the season. The only f@ck up this season was not signing one of Nashi or Ognenovski. Now we have only 4 descent defenders although Masalkovski has been impressive in the preseason. If we signed Sash we would have had the title in the bag, now it will be more interesting I suppose.

Also 18 year old defender Erhan Karahan ex south Melbourne player, 18 year old Damir Prodanovic a midfielder from NSW Parramatta Eagles and former Bonnyrigg White Eagles star, Tayfun Devrimol. ALL INS
S. MELBOURNE
Kevin Nelson a centre forward from Trinidad and Tobago and former South player Tansel Baser with one of last years better players Kostas Salapisidis leaving.
HEIDELBERG
Billy boy Damianos has gone to Oakleigh for big bucks apparently. Former Knights boy Issy Erdogan has left the Bergers for Sunshine Georgies. And the Bergers have got Saranti Parissos from over Adelaide way.

Twit. Victory fans don't hate South. Victory fans hate mouthy South fans with chips on their shoulders. Don't be amazed if a lot of us now want football all year round. Your attendances might just rocket!
No, alot of Victory fans do hate South. i do, always have, always will.
BTW - WTF is up with a 6.30 kickoff for Crazy Johns Cup F.W Vs. Preston this week! Going to be a double header?? If not its a terrible time, and F.W and Preston tend to draw out pretty decent crowds - two maco teams and all :p
