The Fans

As we go past the halfway point of the A-League season, it’s time to take a look at who is leading our the Player of the Year competition, as voted by our forum members each week.

After each match since the beginning of our 2015 FFA Cup campaign, forum members have logged on and cast their vote for who they believe to be player of the match.

It comes as no shock to see Kosta Barbarbouses is the clear leader for the award, almost doubling the votes of the second best after an extremely strong start to the season.

The man trailing Kosta with 12 votes is teenage sensation Thomas Deng. Despite only playing a handful of games, the young defender, who will be welcomed back with open arms upon returning from Olyroos duty, has shown that he is certainly one to watch for the future.

In all, 15 squad players have picked up votes so far this season. Despite a lean patch over the past few weeks, off-season marquee signing Oliver Bozanic has proven to be instrumental in a number of matches polling 11 votes. However, Danny Vukovic, another high profile off-season acquisition, has shown that he is still finding his feet in Melbourne, only picking up three votes.

As we continue into the latter part of the season, it’ll be interesting to see if anyone can catch Kosta.
